Behold the angelic aura of freshly-made local doughnuts. I subbed on set-up for our Youngstown gig, and when the convoy stopped in a tiny town to refeul, I spotted this little pastry hut. Our van promptly took a detour.
Tracy, John and I all wanted to try several flavors, so we ended up getting a bunch and splitting them all up. It was like a doughtnut sampler flight. I'm a bit of a purist, and my personal favorite was the plain glazed. Their cake doughtnuts were not my favorite. Shipley's is the standard by which all cake doughnuts are judged, in my book. These were average at best, but the glazed was very nice—definitely better than Dunkin' Donuts.
Brendan and I were thrilled to hear that friends Rick and Patty would be attending the concert. You may remember them from some of my posts about Chautauqua. They drove four hours round-trip to see the Field Band perform in Youngstown. They always treat us so well, and on this visit, they really spoiled us by bringing beer and other goodies from Southern Tier Brewery. They had to drive back after the show, but Chris, Brendan and I were able to visit for a bit. It's always great to see friendly faces at our shows. Thanks, y'all!

It was worth every minute of the drive to hear the band and see y'all again, not to mention seeing Brendan in action one more time. That was a treat for us!
